Buxton Swimming Club

Buxton Swimming Club were again in action last weekend when they traveled to Biddulph in the 2nd round of the Crusader League Division 1, where they competed against Leek, Winsford, Market Drayton and Biddulph. There were some impressive swims throughout the event, however Buxton's lack of strength in depth in the 10 and under age group contributed to a disappointing final points total. Head Coach Gary McCaffrey said “It was encouraging to see the continued progress of our swimmers and the excellent team spirit they have created and the support they all gave to each other at Biddulph was a credit to our club ”. Noticeable individual performances on the night came from Emily Allsopp, Ben Higgins and Tim Bate. There were also 2 great final leg relay swims by Lucy Wood and Matt Lomas to seal victories in the 12 and under age group freestyle relays. It was good to see accomplished debut swims at 10 years and under age group from Rhys Bowen, Jordan Hincks, Abbie Wood and Cara Cocker. Final result – Biddulph 241, Leek 234, Market Drayton 210, Buxton 157, Winsford 145.

Swimmers from the Club are competing over the next 3 weekends in the Derbyshire County Championships, where the Club are hopeful of a good medal haul.
