Buxton show strength in depth
Buxton swimming club opened the new season in the local swimming leagues with 2 comprehensive victories over the weekend of 29 th & 30 th of January. Buxton swimmers left no one in any doubt after these 2 performances, that the hard training sessions they had endured through the winter had more than paid off.
The first gala of the season was at Congleton in the Crusader league. Buxton were competing against Dane Valley, Newport & Biddulph. Buxton winning 26 out of 51 races on the night finishing 32 points ahead of second place Newport.
The following afternoon an almost entirely different team travelled to Alsager to compete against Sandbach, Poynton & Nantwich. Proving that the previous days result was no fluke Buxton ran out winners again with a 23 point victory, winning 25 out of 50 races.
These results showed that by fielding so many swimmers in the 2 galas, Buxton have real strength in depth in the squad which may well cause head coach Gary McCaffery some selection headaches in the future. Buxton Swimmers next in action at Biddulph in the Crusader league on 19 th February. For latest results and news or for more information visit www.buxtonswimmingclub.co.uk
