ABOUT

Buxton Swimming Club is set in the heart of the Peak District. The club caters for swimmers from the town of Buxton and surrounding villages.

The club caters for complete beginners from the age of 4 years, up to Regional and National swimmers.

We are proud to be the home club of  Abbie Wood, international GB swimmer who has represented her country at the European Junior Championships in Holland 2013 & European Championships in Baku 2015. We are all very proud of Abbie and wish her well.  Go Abbie!

Lessons are held  for learners on Tuesday evenings at 6.35pm and Sunday afternoons at 3.30pm and are 30 minutes in length.  We follow the National Plan for Teaching Swimming, where  lessons are structured around the national plan and based on fun.

We have a Bronze Development squad for those swimmers who have completed stages 1-6 of the NPTS and other squads for the more experienced swimmer. For anyone wishing to join any of our squads, our coaching team will be pleased to assess you and place you in the correct squad for your ability.

Training for our squads takes place on Tuesday, Friday and Sunday evenings.

For those swimmers who develop their  swimming ability and reach  regional and National level they then can progress to the Derbyshire elite squad “Derventio Excel” for which we are a feeder club

All of our Teachers, helpers and Committee members are volunteers and we are proud to have such a reliable and willing team.
