Records tumble at Club Championships
Buxton Swimming Club held their annual Club Championships at Buxton Pool over the 2 consecutive Sundays of 7 th and 14th of November. In keeping with recent performances by Buxton swimmers, it was an exhibition of quality swimming across all age groups and inevitably several long standing club records were broken. Jamie Fitzgerald was first in on the act, being the only record breaker of the first gala in the boys 100m freestyle.
The Championships burst into life in spectacular fashion on the second Sunday with both Nicola Mackay and Alex Peet reaping the rewards of a tougher training regime to smash records in the girls 200m freestyle, 200m medley and the boys 200m backstroke.
The Championships gave all swimmers at the club a taste of competitive swimming producing some good performances, too many to mention. All races were swam in an excellent spirit with lots of encouragement from friends and family. Results available soon on line at www.buxtonswimmingclub.co.uk .
The Championships will hopefully prove to be perfect preparation for this Sundays Derbyshire Championships which are being held at Sheffield's Pond Forge swimming complex. Buxton are sending a strong squad of 22 swimmers to Sheffield and are hopeful that the new found belief amongst the squad will lead to a successful gala for the Club.

Record Breakers Alex, Nicola and Jamie.
