Buxton Swimming Club Head coach

As Head Coach of Buxton Swimming Club, I would like to thank you for becoming part of our coaching programme, and welcome you. This introduction is to give you an insight and clear vision of your aims as a swimmer at this club.

We are predominantly a coaching squad of mixed ages and abilities, with a small amount of pool time turned over to teaching non and weak swimmers. We have coaches and teachers of vast experience who can offer support and advice to you, giving you the opportunity to maximise your swimming talents.

As a swimmer you will be grouped accordingly and given individual specific aims throughout your time at the club. My aim is to continually improve your swimming overall. To this end you will be expected to attend all available swimming sessions for your group and all related fitness and exercise activities.

We attend a number of swimming meets throughout the year and are presently involved in three swimming leagues. We partake in friendly meets, County meets and will be attending various Open meets.

As your swimming improves you will be set increased workload and sessions. You will be given correct up to date advice on Land work and Mobility, Flexability, Cardiovascular, Strength and Plyometric training principles, Nutrition, Sports Conditioning, Race preparation and Event strategies.

Within the club we have a large amount of talent, and already have swimmers with their aims set on International selection for the future. I as an ex British International swimmer have the experience of what is required to reach this standard and will do my utmost to pass on relevant information and training techniques to those swimmers who fall into this category.

It is merely left for me to say, your swimming destiny is ultimately in your hands, be positive, commit, set realistic goals along the way to achieve your dream and I will see you at the top!

Good luck and enjoy.
